“Breakfast seems awfully long ago,” Noel said.
“Come with me. The cafeteria isn’t half bad, and I’m on break. I need their caramel macchiato, or I’ll shrivel up and die,” she replied.
Noel hadn’t realized that she wasn’t any older than he. She looked sort of severe in her scrubs and lab coat, with her hair pulled back. Her name tag didn’t provide a first name, it simply said Dr. Bodie, MD. When they got to the cafeteria, he offered to pay for her coffee.
“Thank you. I accept. It’s not often a handsome man buys me coffee.”
“Then you’re running with the wrong crowd, Doc. You should be treated to cups of coffee, often, and by someone who knows how.”
